If you are unfamiliar with hip-hop goddess noname, once named NoName Gypsy, you won’t regret taking a moment to peruse through her discography. Her 2016 mixtape release “Telephone” is filled with tales of her childhood; exploring her interactions, her goals, her dreams, and her present day life. Before the release of Telephone, noname took all of her previous music off the web in what seems to be a fresh start. In a personal favorite, “Casket Pretty”, noname expresses her concern for the well-being of her loved ones in light of recent events of national news.

English beauty Laura Mvula creates a new women’s anthem with her single “Phenomenal Woman”. The song in itself is jam worthy, it’s vogue worthy, it’s packed with funk, and it’s an extraordinary song. The official video brings the song to life with all of its colors and bold personas. Laura Mvula has just released a new album, The Dreaming Room, where “Phenomenal Woman” features as the last track. Something about her screams mystic. You can get lost in both her beauty and her enchanting sounds. This artist is  a beautiful addition to the world of musical artistry.

Then we have Birdy, the young lady whose entire self-titled debut album was filled with genius song covers. Additionally, Birdy was 15 at the time the album was released. Birdy’s sound is rich and profound. Each note she sings is filled with character. She’d be the perfect addition to any movie soundtrack and is one of the best indie artists working today. In my song of choice, she covers the XX in her own rendition of “Shelter.”
