Although Colin Kaepernick no longer has a starting position as a 49er, his jersey is now the highest selling.
The increase of sales came after the quarterback chose not to stand during the national anthem. This was done to prevent “show[ing] pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
Darren Rovell of ESPN reports, “More Kaepernick gear was sold last week…than the past eight months combined.”
Despite the criticism the football player has been receiving for the last 11 days, artists such as J. Cole and Trey Songz are definitely in concurrence with him. The two wore the $99 jersey this weekend as they performed.
Sales data has not been released by Fanatic, who manages the team’s site.
